I
am so pleased with our first Maritime Memories Voyage. It was a big
undertaking, but I'm pleased to say that it was absolutely terrific.
We had the right ship, the right crew and the right ingredients to
create the most perfect voyage. There was old, rare film to enjoy
and many fascinating talks by well-known maritime experts.
The evening meals, based on menus taken directly from some of
the great ships of the past, were a huge success, with even
the dining room decorated in the colours of the appropriate
shipping company. But what I appreciated most was the extremely
enjoyable company of the passengers and crew aboard the ship.
As the wife of an ex 'Vindi-boy' was heard to soy 'It's like
a dream come true'. It really was something very special. Here
are a few quotes from some of our passengers:
'The voyage with Maritime Memories on board Discovery was
truly a voyage down memory lane. I feel as if I had never been
away from the sea, even after 40 years. It is definitely an
experience not to be missed'.
Capt. A. Sprigings, ex-Brocklebank
'Before this voyage I only ever cared about the ports I was
going to, but after experiencing this Maritime Memories Voyage,
for the first time I can honestly say that I am completely happy
just being on the ship'.
Lynda Taplin, wife of ex-Gravesend Boy, Roger
'As a single traveller not knowing a great deal about ships.
I was a little concerned as to whether I would mix with everyone,
but I needn't have worried, because the whole voyage was absolutely
fabulous'.
Sheila Jones
'I have to say that as one of the world's biggest sceptics,
I wasn't expecting too much from this Maritime Memories Voyage,
but it really was something very special and both my wife and
I enjoyed every precious minute aboard'.
